Wide Bay

The Bundaberg and Hervey Bay hospitals are the major hospitals in the Wide Bay region, providing intensive care, obstetrics, paediatrics, general surgery, emergency medicine, medical imaging, pathology and a range of other allied health services.

There are six main placement sites in the Wide Bay region where you may be based during your GP training. These include Biggenden, Bundaberg, Childers, Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Monto.

Hervey Bay offers an acute facility and works closely with the Maryborough Hospital to deliver health care to communities.

Registrars working in the Wide Bay region can enjoy opportunities in the varied specialties including in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

The Wide Bay region is just over four hour's drive from Brisbane and includes areas including beaches, coastline, small towns, and villages and stunning mountain ranges.
