Senior Fellows
James Cook University's (JCU) Senior Fellows are experienced and respected senior GP colleagues who are available to facilitate dialogue between supervisors and JCU management, medical educators and administrative staff.
Senior Fellows provide feedback to JCU from the supervisor's perspective and provide feedback to supervisors on areas including Australian General Practice Training, educational, practice and registrar activity across our region.

Associate Professor Bruce Chater
Associate Professor Bruce Chater has been a rural doctor in the Queensland town of Theodore for over 35 years. Associate Professor Chater is Chair of the Queensland Health Statewide Rural and Remote Clinical Network, Head of the Discipline of Rural and Remote Medicine at University of Queensland, a Senior Fellow with JCU GP Training, Secretary of the World Organisation of General Practitioners Working Party on Rural Practice, and a member of the Australian Independent Hospital Pricing Authority Board. Associate Professor Chater is a founding convener of the Rural Doctors Associations of Queensland and Australia, the founding Chair of the Australian National Rural Health Alliance, former Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine president, and former council member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Louis Peachey
Dr Louis Peachey, Senior Medical Officer at Atherton District Hospital, knows all too well the importance of a rural doctor. Dr Peachey has spent 26 years honing his skills as a GP, Rural Generalist and Anaesthetist to provide the best heath care he can in times of need.
Dr Ed Stark
Dr Ed Stark has been a GP in Atherton for nearly 20 years. He has been involved in the supervision of medical students and GP registrars for the majority of this time. He dedicates one day a week to skin cancer screening and surgery. Other medical interests include mental health, elderly health and palliative care. He was formerly chair of the Tropical Medical Training Supervisor Liaison Committee and has recently been appointed a Senior Fellow with JCU GP Training.
Dr David Rimmer
Dr David Rimmer is a Rural Generalist with a Additional Skill Training in Emergency Medicine. He was the first Executive Director of Medical Services for Central West HHS from 2013 until 2019, establishing the One Practice Model of medical services. He continues part time at Longreach Hospital and Longreach Family Medical Practice with a particular interest in Registrar Supervision and support. He is a Founding Board Member of the Western Qld Primary Health Network and a member of the Executive of the Qld Clinical Senate.
David has 44 years of Hospital, private General Practice, RFDS and private Emergency Medicine experience which gives him understanding of a wide range of contexts of medical practice.
