Registrar well-being
Registrar well-being
General practice training is a challenging undertaking and at times can be stressful for some registrars.
Registrars may experience events or circumstances that put their health and well-being at risk, and James Cook University (JCU) is committed to providing registrars with early support through contact with their medical educator, supervisor or one of our Registrar Liaison Officers. Registrars are encouraged to seek help at the earliest instance and maintain regular contact with their own GP.
Fatigue management
Fatigue is a potential workplace hazard that can affect registrars training on the AGPT program. Fatigue has implications for the provision of safe, quality care for patients, the well-being of registrars, and the ability of registrars to meet their education and training requirements. The management of registrar fatigue is the responsibility of registrars, RTOs, GP supervisors and training facilities.
JCU encourages all registrars to make themselves aware of the risks of fatigue in the workplace and has compiled the list of resources below. Registrars who are uncertain of whether they are at risk are encouraged to use the AMA Fatigue Risk Assessment Tool as a starting point for assessing their level of risk.
